Have a bloomin’ good time in Chelsea
For all you green fingered folk, not that you needed to be reminded, but today is the first day of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the most prestigious gardening event in the world. Taking place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, London, the 2011 event will be open to the public from May 24th to 28th.
Covering 11 acres, the Chelsea Flower Show is to the horticultural world what Paris Fashion Week is to the fashion industry. Each year, top designers let their creative juices flow to create of the most imaginative show gardens, urban gardens and artisan gardens. This year will feature gardens based on the hit movie, Avatar, and by the swanky scenery of Monaco. Even if you can’t tell your roses from your rhododendrons, head along and admire the wondrous variety of colours and smells that this botanical bonanza has to offer. Afterwards, when all the festivities of the flora and fauna have finished, you’re going to need a place to rest your weary self.
