Winter getaways: 3 places to hit the slopes
It’s time to dust off your skis, snowboard and sledge, and start planning your winter holiday. We bring you three of our favourite places to escape to the snow: The Austrian Alps, the Polish ‘Giant Mountains’ and the Italian Dolomites. Choose from our recommended places and let our hosts show you the best runs!
Innsbruck, Austria
Innsbruck is the Tyrolean capital and is known for its architecture, sightseeing, cultural events, and convenient access to miles of exhilarating ski runs. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy over 500 kilometers of trails in 25 surrounding village resorts connected by a free ski bus. There are eight major ski areas that provide varied terrain for all levels of skiers.
Zakopane, Poland
Zakopane, the Polish capital of winter sports, is situated in the beautiful Tatra Mountains. The Zakopane region is widely known for its unspoiled nature and majestic landscapes. Apart from being the highest Polish mountains, the Tatras have been a National Park for over 40 years, sharing many characteristics with the Alps.
If you’re looking for the perfect skiing resort in the Dolomites, Livinallongo del Col di Lana is your best choice. Relax in the mountains of the Bellunese and hit the ski runs of Arabba or the Marmolada Massif. Thanks to its favourable geographical position and to the imposing mountains surrounding it, Livinallongo is one of the best places to practice skiing.
