Menorca

Today we continue our trip throughout the most beautiful Spanish resorts with Menorca, ideal for those seeking tranquility, but also for those who enjoy nature and sports. The two main towns of Menorca are the present capital, Mahon, and the former capital, Ciutadella. To oversimplify, we could say that Mahon is a modern and commercial city, while Ciutadella is known for its ancient buildings and typical harbor.
When you travel to Menorca, the best way to visit the island freely is to rent a car. The main road links Mahon to Ciutadella and passes through other large towns such as Alaior or Ferreries, so it is very easy to drive around.

There is no doubt about the charm of Menorca’s beaches and coves, mostly surrounded by mountains and pine forests, white sand and clear water; take particular note of Cala Galdana, one of the largest and busiest beach, but also look for Macarella Cala, Cala or Cala Turqueta Pregonda. The island is surrounded by horse riding tracks, and most beaches can be reached by hikers that way.

Among the most desirable views in Menorca is the picturesque village of Binibeca with its white houses, the Tower of Fornells or the fortress of La Mola, near Mahon.

Nature lovers will love Albufera des Grau, at the northeast of the island, a natural park with more than 5,000 acres where you can see all sorts of birds, it is perfect for hiking.

If you prefer to paddle rather than walk, Menorca has many options for water sports. I can assure you that covering part of the island’s coast by kayak is a unique experience.
Among the accommodations that you can rent with 9flats.com, we recommend this particular house in Mahon, built on the old wall, or this beautiful villa on the north coast of the island.

Do not forget to check out the other apartments in Menorca, you might find exactly what you are looking for.
