Travel to Freiburg

Pope Benedict XVI’s will visit his home country from September 22nd to the 25th for his first official state visit. Among the planned events for this trip are meetings with religious leaders and chancellor Merkel.

Demand has been so high for the public to attend mass by Pope Benedict in Berlin that the venue changed three times and will now take place in Berlin’s Olympic stadium, which holds about 74,500 people – the ticketing system to attend this mass, also crashed due to overwhelming demand for tickets.

Pope Benedict’s schedule is as follows: Arriving in Berlin on September 22nd where there will be a welcoming ceremony and later a mass at 6.30pm in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. On the following day, September 23rd he will travel to Erfurt and on the 24th Mass will be celebrated at Erfurt Domplatz. Then the Pope travels onwards to Freiburg im Breisgau where on the 25th he will celebrate Mass in the Freiburg im Breisgau airport before departing.
